How to Add Widgets to Your Dashboard

Learn how to add widgets to your dashboard from the Widgets Library, configure chart types, sizes, view types, and data sources, and customize widget titles in English and Arabic.

After adding a widget to your dashboard, you can edit its settings anytime. Change the chart type, data sources, title, size, view type, or filters to adjust how your data is displayed.

What You Can Do

Edit all widget properties including chart type, size, view type, and data sources. Change widget titles in English and Arabic. Override dashboard filters for individual widgets. Apply changes with real-time preview before saving. Revert changes if needed without affecting saved settings. Delete widgets from your dashboard.

Before You Start

You must have a dashboard with at least one widget already added. Access your dashboard and locate the widget you want to edit. You need the same permissions required to create dashboards.

Step by Step

Step 1 - Locate the Widget to Edit

On your dashboard, find the widget you want to edit. Hover over the widget to see the action icons appear in the top right corner of the widget.

Step 2 - Click the Three-Dot Menu

Click the three-dot menu icon (More options) in the top right corner of the widget.

Step 3 - Select Manage Widget

From the dropdown menu, click "Manage Widget". This opens the widget editor in focused mode.

Step 4 - Edit Chart Type (Optional)

In the editor, find the "Chart Type" dropdown. Select a different chart type if desired (bar, line, pie, KPI, etc.). A real-time preview on the right shows how your data looks with the new chart type. A loader appears briefly while the preview updates.

Step 5 - Edit Widget Size (Optional)

Find the "Size" option. Select a different size (small, medium, large, or full width). The preview updates to show how the larger or smaller widget appears on your dashboard.

Step 6 - Edit View Type (Optional)

Under "View Type," toggle between Comparison and Aggregate if you want to change how your data is displayed. Comparison shows data side by side. Aggregate combines data into totals. The preview updates instantly.

Step 7 - Edit Data Sources (Optional)

In the "Data Source" section, check or uncheck monitors and channels to change which data the widget displays. For Benchmark widgets in Comparison mode, you must select at least 2 data sources. An error message appears if you select fewer. The preview updates as you change selections.

Step 8 - Edit Widget Title (Optional)

In the "Title" field, change the widget name to something new. Titles support English and Arabic text. The preview updates to show the new title.

Step 9 - Edit Date Filter (Optional)

In the "Date Filter" section, set or change a custom date range for this widget. This overrides the dashboard-level filter for this widget only. Leave blank to use the dashboard filter instead.

Step 10 - Review the Preview

On the right side of the editor, a preview shows all your changes in real time. Invalid configurations are highlighted with clear guidance so you can fix them before saving. No changes are applied to the dashboard until you save.

Step 11 - Validate Your Changes

Make sure all required fields are filled in. The "Save" button is disabled until all validation passes. Check the preview to confirm your changes look correct.

Step 12 - Save Your Changes

Click the "Save" button to apply all edits to your widget. The editor closes and your widget updates on the dashboard with all new settings applied.

Step 13 - Cancel or Discard (Alternative)

If you want to cancel editing without saving, click "Cancel" or "Discard". This reverts the widget completely to its last saved state. No partial changes are kept. You return to the dashboard view.

Making Additional Changes

After saving, you can edit the same widget again anytime. Click the three-dot menu and select "Manage Widget" to make more adjustments. You can also move and resize widgets on the canvas by dragging them or using the resize handles. These layout changes do not require the editor.
