How to Use the Instagram Hashtags Manager in Social Listening
Learn how to track and manage Instagram hashtags across connected Business accounts using the Instagram Hashtags Manager, including limitations imposed by Instagram.
The Instagram Hashtags Manager lets you track and manage Instagram hashtags across your connected business accounts. It gives you a centralized view of all your hashtags, their status, and which monitors they are associated with — making it easier to measure campaign performance and manage hashtag usage across accounts.
Before You Start
You need the View Profile permission enabled to access the Instagram Hashtags Manager. Only Instagram Business accounts are supported.
What You Can Do
- Search for hashtags by name
- Filter hashtags by status
- Sort hashtags by name, registration date, account, or status
- Navigate between pages of hashtags
- Delete inactive hashtags — note that only inactive hashtags can be deleted
Understanding the Dashboard
The Instagram Hashtags Manager displays the following information across your connected accounts.
Instagram Business Accounts — the number of connected Instagram Business accounts.
Total Hashtags — the total number of hashtags allowed across your accounts. Instagram allows up to 30 hashtags per account.
Activated Hashtags — the total number of hashtags currently active and in use.
Inactive Hashtags — the total number of hashtags that are not currently in use.
Registered Hashtags — the total number of registered hashtags.
Unregistered Hashtags — the total number of hashtags that are not yet registered.
Each hashtag in the list also shows which monitors it is associated with and the status of each monitor.
Limitations
Instagram imposes the following restrictions that apply within Lucidya.
- Maximum of 30 hashtags per account over a 7-day period
- Emojis are not supported in hashtags
- Active hashtags have a 7-day unregistration period before they can be removed
- Historical data retrieval is not supported
- Instagram story hashtags are not supported
- Personal identification information cannot be included in profile data

- To remove a hashtag, click the delete icon at the end of its row.
