How to Create and Use Topic Classification in Social Listening

Learn how to create up to 8 custom topics per monitor in Social Listening using keywords to automatically categorize mentions and comments for filtering and trend analysis.

Topic Classification lets you define custom topics using keywords to automatically categorize mentions and comments in your monitors. This makes it easier to filter data, analyze trends, and group discussions around specific subjects of interest.

How It Works

Topic Classification uses keywords you define to automatically categorize incoming comments and mentions. Any post containing your specified keywords is assigned to the relevant topic, allowing you to filter and analyze data by subject rather than reading through every post manually. You can add up to 8 topics per monitor.

Adding Topics During Monitor Setup

When creating a new monitor, you will have the option to define classification topics as part of the setup flow. Enter your keywords for each topic before clicking Create Monitor. For full monitor setup steps see How to Create a Monitor in Social Listening.

Adding Topics from Monitor Settings

Step 1. Open Monitor Settings

Navigate to your monitor in Social Listening and open the monitor settings.

Step 2. Go to the Topic Section

Select the Topic section from the settings menu.

Step 3. Add a New Topic

Click Add New Topic and enter the relevant keywords for the topic you want to track. Repeat for each topic you want to add, up to a maximum of 8 topics per monitor.
