How to Create a Use Case Dashboard

How to Create a Use Case Dashboard

Create a dashboard with pre-built widgets tailored to a specific workflow, then customize it to fit your needs.

‍

A use case dashboard starts you off with pre-built widgets and layouts designed for a specific workflow. Instead of building from scratch, you select a use case that matches your goals, and the dashboard is created with recommended widgets already in place. You can then customize it further or add more widgets as needed.

What You Can Do

Choose from six pre-built use cases designed for different business workflows. Start with widgets pre-populated based on your selected use case. Select from Social Listening or Managed Channels product categories. Pick specific monitors or channels to power your dashboard. Customize the pre-built layout after creation. Add additional widgets beyond what the use case provides.

Before You Start

You need proper access to create dashboards in your workspace. At least one monitor or channel must be available in your workspace. You must have access to either Social Listening or Managed Channels product (depending on which use case you choose).

Step by Step

Step 1 - Navigate to Dashboards

Go to Home → Dashboards.

Step 2 - Click Create Dashboard

Click the blue "+ Create Dashboard" button in the top right corner.

Step 3 - Enter Dashboard Name

Type a unique name for your dashboard in the "Dashboard Name" field. The name must be different from all other dashboards in your workspace. If the name already exists, this error appears: "A dashboard with this name already exists. Please choose a different name."

Step 4 - Select Use Case Dashboard Type

Under "Dashboard Type," click on the "Use Case Dashboard" card. The description reads: "Start with widgets pre-built for a specific workflow." This option creates a dashboard with recommended widgets based on your use case selection.

Step 5 - Select Your Product

The next screen shows "Choose where your widget comes from." Select either Social Listening or Managed Channels. Social Listening use cases focus on social media monitoring and brand analysis. Managed Channels use cases focus on customer support and engagement across direct channels.

Step 6 - Select a Use Case

The use case selection screen displays all available use cases as visual cards. Each card shows a representative image, the use case name, and a description of what it covers. Review the available use cases described in the section "Available Use Cases" below. Click the one that matches your business needs. The selected card highlights in blue. Only one use case can be selected at a time.

Step 7 - Select Monitors or Channels

The final screen displays "Select Monitors" (for Social Listening) or "Select Channels" (for Managed Channels).

You can select up to 8 monitors or channels maximum for your dashboard. Available sources are organized by platform (Facebook, Instagram, X Platform, etc.). Each platform shows the total number of available monitors or channels.

Step 8 - Choose Your Data Sources

Click the checkbox next to each monitor or channel you want to include. A counter shows how many you have selected out of the maximum allowed. For example, "2/6 Selected" means you have chosen 2 out of 6 available Facebook monitors. Use the search bar at the top to find monitors or channels by name if you have many to browse.

Step 9 - Verify Selection Requirements

For certain use cases (such as Benchmark), a minimum of 2 data sources is required. If you select fewer than required, an error message appears: "Benchmark use case requires at least two monitors or channels to proceed." Adjust your selections to meet the minimum requirement.

Step 10 - Create Your Dashboard

Once you have selected between 1 and 8 data sources and met any use case requirements, click the "Create Dashboard" button. The system creates your dashboard with pre-populated widgets from your selected use case. This process happens in the background.

Step 11 - View Your New Dashboard

Your dashboard opens on the canvas with all pre-built widgets already added. Widgets are configured to display data from the monitors or channels you selected. Your dashboard name appears at the top of the page.

Step 12 - Customize Your Dashboard (Optional)

After creation, you can add more widgets, edit existing widgets, or change the layout.

If you want to add additional widgets beyond what the use case provided, click "+ Add Widgets."

To edit existing widgets, click the three-dot menu on any widget and select "Manage Widget."

Detailed instructions for adding and editing widgets appear in separate guides.

الأسئلة الشائعة

What is the difference between a use case dashboard and a blank dashboard?

A blank dashboard starts with no widgets or templates. You add every widget manually and control the entire layout. A use case dashboard comes with widgets pre-built for a specific workflow. After creation, you can customize it further by adding or editing widgets. See "How to Create a Blank Dashboard" to learn more about blank dashboards.

‍

Can I change the use case after my dashboard is created?

Yes. You can modify and add any widget you want if it exists in another use case.

‍

What is the maximum number of monitors or channels I can select?

You can select up to 8 monitors or channels when creating a use case dashboard. If you need data from more than 8 sources, you can add widgets that pull from additional sources after the dashboard is created. See "How to Add Widgets to Your Dashboard" for guidance on adding more data sources.

Do all use cases require a minimum number of data sources?

Most use cases require a minimum of 1 monitor or channel. However, the Benchmark use case requires a minimum of 2 data sources because it compares performance across multiple sources. An error message appears if you try to create a Benchmark dashboard with fewer than 2 sources.

Can I use the same monitor or channel in multiple dashboards?

Yes. A single monitor or channel can be used in multiple dashboards. This is useful when different teams want to view the same data in different dashboard layouts.
